Oddballs Golf Society – East Preston

Oddballs is a golf society, without the boring bits. Robert and Danny wanted to play golf with local people, at local courses but without the days being too long. We also wanted the partners of our golfers to join us for the meal after golf. Then we dine at local restaurants that everyone can easily get to.

We aim to keep each Oddballs day affordable, with costs between £30 and £35 for golf and the restaurant. Guest meals can be booked for just £10. We end up with a really fun day’s golf and we get to dine with our partners in the evening.

It’s a lot of fun and everyone has to pay fines of £1 for various misdemeanours during the day, and we raised £134 for charity on our maiden event. Oddballs is mainly for East Preston people to play golf together, then dine in the village and support local charity.

We hosted the first ever East Preston Golf Championship as part of festival week.

The East Preston Festival Golf Championship organised by Oddballs tool place on 10th June 2015 at Littlehampton Golf Club. Initially organised to be held on the 2nd June, this had to be postponed due to gail force winds and rain. Despite the change in date we had a good turnout for the event. This year Oddballs will be presenting a cheque of £275 pounds to the East Preston Festival Committee to be added to the total fundraising for the Festival Week.

Winner of the day Andy Grigg scored 42 points, Paul Groves second with 38 points closely followed by Danny Shah in third with 36 points. Longest Drives was won by Chris Jenkins and Nearest to the Pin was awarded to Nicola Bain.
