Every Wednesday, bring along your latest crafty projects to work on over a drink and a chat. Knitting, sewing, crochet, needlework etc. All crafts and abilities welcome. Bring a group of friends or come and meet some new ones. Children and grandchildren are welcome too in our friendly children’s library. Free to attend - just drop in! East Preston Christmas Celebrations (around East Preston)

Once again, Christmas arrives in East Preston at the end of November. The East Preston Christmas Celebrations will again see a range of activities for people of all ages taking place in the area between the library and the bottom of Sea Road. The Conservative Hall will again become The Miles Ahead Music Club, sponsored by East Preston Clinic. Father Christmas will be popping up at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church Hall. An Italian market will be in The Street outside the library, lost of shops will be offering different attractions, there will be a short fireworks display on the Village Green at 5pm and a family Christmas film in the Conservative Hall to end the day. Come and kickstart your Christmas season here.

Film 'My Cousin Rachel . Tickets £6.00 each and on sale from 13th October from Hedgers Newsagents and Seaview Stores, both in Sea Road. Raffle prizes kindly donated by local individuals and businesses. Refreshment kiosk organised by local teenagers. All proceeds from tickets, raffle and wine sales to be used for the benefit of the village. All film events generously sponsored by East Preston Estate Agents Cooper Adams.

Christmas Barn Dance (East Preston Junior School, St Mary's Drive, BN16 1EZ)

Note the change of venue. Be prepared to dance the night away, Squinty McGinty are back! No experience necessary - just follow instructions and have fun. Mince pie and glass of mulled wine served on arrival and soft drinks will be on sale. Bring your own wine or beer, no glasses please, plastic ones will be provided. Tickets are £12.50, on sale from 21st October at Hedgers Newsagents and Seaview Stores, both in Sea Road, East Preston. Please use the St Mary's Drive entrance.

East Preston Reads Aloud 5 (Seahorse Cafe, 112 Sea Road, East Preston)

Each quarter, lovers of good writing and good food gather together for an evening in The Seahorse Cafe. Over a delicious set two-course meal, attendees read aloud passages from their favourite books for the delight of other attendees. Not everyone reads but it adds to the fun if they do. Passages can be from almost any kind of book and should last no more than eight minutes. Authors whose work has been read so far include: John Steinbeck, Pam Ayres, David Nobbs, Penelope Lively, Harper Lee and Joyce Grenfell. Tickets are £20 and need to be pre-booked by emailing. William Penn: the Sussex Connection (Conservative Hall, Sea Road, East Preston)

William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, one of the earliest states in the USA, took hundreds of West Sussex people with him to populate the New World. Martin Hayes, County Local Studies Librarian, will analyse Penn’s life and relate it to the historical context of West Sussex in the 17th century. He will also tell us about the many West Sussex places with links to Penn, some of which can be visited today. All welcome. Visitors £3 (pay at the door), EPKPS members free.

At our first meeting of the New Year, we will be treated to a demonstration of Creative Flower arranging by Gill Homer. The arrangements will be auctioned afterwards. 4. Best Veteran (7 years & over)

6. Dog with the X Factor (cleverest trick)
7. Scruffiest Dog
8. Dog with the most appealing eyes
9. Dog with the waggiest tail
10. Desert Island Dog (dog the judge would most like to have on a desert island)
No puppies under 6 months of age are permitted to be shown.
