Christopher Robin (Conservative Hall, Sea Road EP)

This month's film is Christopher Robin. Tickets will go on sale and are £6 each, from Dizzy, Just Because (formerly Treats and Treasures) and Seaview Stores - all in Sea Road, East Preston. Raffle prizes have been donated by local traders and residents. Wine and refreshments will be on sale. All proceeds generated go towards community projects in the village. Film shows are generously sponsored by Cooper Adams Estate Agents.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshops (The Seahorse Cafe East Preston)

Christmas Wreath workshops on 23 Nov, 27 Nov, 29 Nov, 4 Dec, 6 Dec.

Nothing says ‘Christmas is here’ quite like hanging a hand-made wreath on your front door. Join us at The Seahorse Café in East Preston for an afternoon of Christmas cheer and wreath making, with industry professionals from Essence VM.

You will learn how to prepare your wreath base and build up the layers of foliage to create a stunning wreath using seasonal plants such as holly and pine. Add warming seasonal aromas with oranges and cinnamon, to your own unique Christmas wreath.

Take your wonderful creation home and display it on your front door for all to admire. Suitable for all abilities and groups are restricted to 10 people, to ensure one to one tuition.

East Preston Christmas Celebrations (Sea Road, East Preston)

This is a day to celebrate Christmas. Starting at noon with local businesses getting together to promote what they do, stalls inside the village hall and entertainment in the Conservative Hall. We have a funfair, stalls outside and activities on the village green. Fun for children includes a visiting Father Christmas, face painting and lantern making. Cafes and bars will be open offering sumptuous delights all day and with some, into the evening. We aim to have a procession around 4.45pm with children and Father Christmas taking the lanterns from the north end of the village to the south. There will be carol singing by the village green and a finale firework display. Hope to see you there.

Bygone Sussex: the photographs of George Garland and John Fletcher – a talk by Nichola Court (Conservative Hall, Sea Rd, East Preston BN16 1JN)

Nichola Court of West Sussex Record Office bases her talk on the work of these two photographers. Garland was most interested in recording countryside traditions and he worked from 1920 to 1978. Fletcher recorded old buildings that were at risk of demolition and worked from 1880 to 1915. Together they provide a description of the recent past of Sussex. All welcome. Visitors pay £3 for entry (pay at the door).

Old Kingston – an Illustrated Ralk by Margaret Gilbert (John de Bohun Room, Woodlands Centre, Woodlands Avenue, Rustington BN16 3HB )

In Kingston, East Preston’s isolated and quieter neighbour, two historic former homes of the Olliver and Candy families still stand amidst open fields, old flint cottages and dead-end tracks. Margaret’s talk looks at the history of this relatively untouched place, as well as the changing fortunes of its two great houses through the ages. All welcome – Heritage Association members £1; visitors £3 (pay at the door).
