This month's film is 'Finding Your Feet'. Tickets, which are £6 each, are on sale from Dizzy, Just Because (formerly Treats and Treasures) and Seaview Stores - all in Sea Road, East Preston. Raffle prizes have been donated by local traders and residents. Wine and refreshments will be on sale. All proceeds generated go towards community projects in the village. Film shows are generously sponsored by Cooper Adams Estate Agents.

East Preston's Food & Drink Festival has been a huge success over the last two years. This year it will be bigger and better. Spend a fun summer's day eating, drinking and socialising with friends and family on East Preston's lovely village green.
This multi-vendor, vibrant food and drink festival is going to be a foodie and tipple-lovers heaven. Paella to Pimms to puddings to preserves... As well as the stalls, there will be food demonstrations and children's entertainment throughout.

East Preston Cricket Club Fun Day Event (East Preston Cricket Club)

East Preston Cricket Club (EPCC) Fun Day- EPCC established 1860
EPCC- bringing the community together
EPCC will be running a cricket in the “community fun day” on Saturday September 8th, 2018.
The club which was established in 1860 and is an intrinsic part of the community. Its club house also hosts the local pre-school.
The club has ambitious plans to develop the next generation of local cricketers and have teams at under 12 years old and under 8 years old along with a group of under 18-year-old players who are already part of the Adult teams.
To build upon this momentum the club are holding a community fun day to encourage villagers of all ages to support the young children of the future. The club will also be recruiting for players of all ages and raising funds for their winter training ensuring the club is an all year-round facility.

Under 12s six a side mini tournament starts 9.30 am
“Catering on the Outfield” starts 10am serving the infamous (Sir Ian) “Botham Bap”, You’ve not lived if you have not tried one!

Magnus Volk and his Electric Railways – a talk by Ian Gledhill (Conservative Hall, Sea Rd, East Preston BN16 1JN)

Ian Gledhill, a founder of the Volks Electric Railway Association, tells the story of the electrical pioneer Magnus Volk and the amazing electric railways he built. The line along Brighton seafront is the oldest electric railway in the world still in use. It has been reopened this year after renovation. All are welcome at this talk. Second of this year's twice-yearly Beach Cleans, sprucing up East Preston's beaches at the end of the summer.

Most equipment is supplied but if you have any of your own you wish to use that is fine.

Registration is essential to ensure you are covered by the council's insurance. Pre report to the very bottom of Sea Road at the beginning of your stint. Partial pre-registration is available by emailing Alison on epparishcouncil3@btconnect.com.

Sussex Basement: the Natural Building Materials of the County – a Talk by Geoffrey Mead (Conservative Hall, Sea Rd, East Preston BN16 1JN)

Geoffrey Mead, who has studied the history and geology of Sussex for many years, describes the building materials that can be found in the soil and rocks of the county. Before canals and railways were constructed, builders had to rely on these local materials and the appearance of buildings was determined by local geology. All welcome. East Preston Christmas Celebrations (Sea Road, East Preston)

This is a day to celebrate Christmas. Starting at noon with local businesses getting together to promote what they do, stalls inside the village hall and entertainment in the Conservative Hall. We have a funfair, stalls outside and activities on the village green. Fun for children includes a visiting Father Christmas, face painting and lantern making. Cafes and bars will be open offering sumptuous delights all day and with some, into the evening. We aim to have a procession around 4.45pm with children and Father Christmas taking the lanterns from the north end of the village to the south. There will be carol singing by the village green and a finale firework display. Hope to see you there.

Bygone Sussex: the photographs of George Garland and John Fletcher – a talk by Nichola Court (Conservative Hall, Sea Rd, East Preston BN16 1JN)

Nichola Court of West Sussex Record Office bases her talk on the work of these two photographers. Garland was most interested in recording countryside traditions and he worked from 1920 to 1978. Fletcher recorded old buildings that were at risk of demolition and worked from 1880 to 1915. Together they provide a description of the recent past of Sussex. All welcome. Visitors pay £3 for entry (pay at the door).
