Previous Christmas Celebrations (November 21st 2015)

To mark the start of the 2015 Christmas season and our Christmas Tree the Parish Council and volunteers are organising seasonal events, workshops and activities throughout the village.

The event will take place along Sea Road, starting at the North shops, including the Village Hall and Conservative Hall, running down to the Village Green and South Shops.

New for 2015 will be a fabulous French Market and Slot Car Racing

Building on our 2014 success, other attractions include:

  • A craft fair in the Village Hall with stalls outside supporting local charities
  • A visit from Father Christmas
  • Lantern making for children. Completed lanterns may be used around the Christmas tree on the Village Green.
  • Fair rides at Two Acres and outside the North shops.
  • Fashion Show at the Conservative Hall and a bell-ringing demonstration (with audience participation!)

Thanks to all those who turned out on a wet and miserable day, and helped to make this event a huge success.

In 2014 the East Preston Parish Council celebrated its 125th Anniversary. To mark this landmark event the Council, Councillors and a group of dedicated volunteers organised events, workshops and activities throughout the village. This culminated in a lantern procession from the North of the village to the village green for the switching on of the East Preston Christmas tree lights.

The success of this fundamental event would have been nothing without the participation of the local businesses so we offered them the opportunity to get involved with this exciting day. This event as well as the lead up and aftermath, was heavily supported with advertising in the local press and various social media sites, including a dedicated Facebook page.

Here were some of the planned events:

  • A shop window display competition
  • “Hunt the Elf” in the shop windows
  • Charity stalls and garage sales in Sea Road
  • Craft fair in the Village Hall Barn
  • Father Christmas in the Village Hall Warren Room
  • A clothes exchange and fashion show by Dizzy in the Conservative Hall
  • Celebration Samba provided music
  • Lantern making in the Sea Horse CafĂ© and Prestons
  • Hot chocolate and turkey baps served by Prestons
  • The Clockhouse running a winter beer festival
  • Live music in the evening at The Clockhouse
  • The Clockhouse Deli held a food taster event
